Life before Tanner . . .

. . . looked a little bit like this: (except for the chipmunk voices - I can't figure out how to get our cell phone videos to upload onto blogger without making us sound like alvin, simon, and theodore. Sorry! But you get the gist!)

My mom and dad are SAINTS and they not only gave me the gift of a day of skiing for my birthday (which was at the end of January), but my mom spent one of her days in Utah last week watching the Tanman while Eli and I went skiing! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU mom and dad!!! We had an INCREDIBLY FUN day together and it helped remind us of our days before Tanner and our awesome friendship that has been dormant for a little while since the little man joined our fam. (We love Tan and are SO grateful that he is basically the center of our lives, but we miss US time. Does anybody else feel like this ever?)

Anywho, we had a total blast skiing at Brighton all day. The snow was powdery and falling lightly all day, and the slopes were uncrowded since we went on a Friday. And the chili baked potato lunch (that's actually only half of what we ate - we went all out and had a HUGE lunch since we never get to go skiing) was bueno bueno bueno! Here are some cell phone pics from our fabuloso day on the slopes:

This is what happens when you try to take kissing-the-cheek pictures while standing backwards on a slope:

I kept laughing...

...so Eli did this.

It's actually fun to reminisce back to childhood and put snow on our faces!

Love, love love!

"The Snowboarder face" - But what does a snowboarder face actually look like??? Who knows, we weren't snowboarding anyways!

Excited to Ski together ALL DAY LONG!!!!

Temporary Home

You know what I love? When popular singers sing about heaven. "I Can Only Imagine" has always been one of my favorite songs. Well, Carrie Underwood (one of my faves) released a new song recently called "Temporary Home" and it is beautiful. The music video made me cry and really reminded me that our life here on earth really is just our temporary home. I've been thinking a lot recently about what our purpose here on earth is and that has helped me remember the eternal perspective through daily living. I'm so grateful that I have a Father in Heaven who loves and knows me! That brings so much peace to my heart.

Here are the lyrics to the last verse:

Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers don't cry for me
I'll see you all someday
He looks up and says "I can see God's face."

"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through
This was just a stop,on the way To where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know this was
My temporary home."

Awesome, awesome song! Here is a link to the music video and you should totally watch it: http://www.cmt.com/videos/carrie-underwood/478351/temporary-home.jhtml

(I found this picture online and just loved that muddy path heading towards the majesty of heaven.)

Daredevil

Tanner has turned into an adrenaline-seeking daredevil! He is only 13 months and yet he is going down large slides face first! We definitely didn't teach him that but he loves it!

He loved walking up the playground stairs without crawling and thought it was hilarious when I'd say "WOAH" with each step!! Such a cute and spunky little guy!
